Got O2? Have You Taken a Deep Breath Today?

HBOT NaplesHere are some facts: 20% of the body’s oxygen is required for brain function. 5 liters of blood is pumped by your heart per minute. That is 300 liters per hour. Red blood cells carry oxygen and carbon dioxide around our body. Cells in our body need oxygen to live. Cells also make carbon dioxide as a waste. Red blood cells bring more oxygen around the body. They also take away the carbon dioxide.

Blood plasma is the yellow liquid where the blood cells float. Plasma is made up of nutrients, electrolytes (salts and gases), non-protein hormones, waste, lipids, and proteins. These proteins are albumins, antibodies, clotting factors, and protein hormones. Adults have about 3 liters of plasma. Plasma is a liquid, mostly water (90%). Plasma takes up 55% of blood volume.

The average adult at rest inhales and exhales 7 – 8 liters of air per minute which equals about 11,000 liters of air in 24 hours. The air that is inhaled is about 20 percent oxygen. A human uses about 550 liters of pure oxygen (19 cubic feet) per day at rest.

My point here is that oxygen is a required element for the body to function properly and it is needed by all the body’s organs. Life is in the blood. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could increase the amount of oxygen “Naturally” and safely?

With our hyperbaric oxygen chambers, you can receive 90% oxygen and have it saturate NOT ONLY in the red blood cells I mentioned above, but the blood plasma as well and other bodily fluids! Once you apply pressure of 1.3 ATM which is equivalent to sitting on the bottom of a pool (11 feet below sea level), oxygen can now reach every nook and cranny in your body. This opens the door to natural healing.

Historical Facts About Oxygen Treatment
1662 – Mr. Henshaw made a compressed air for treatment of medical problems. He built a sealed chamber called the “Domicilium.” Acute and chronic conditions were treated with this increased air pressure.

1800’s – A number of health spas popped up in Europe. They were very large chambers that could accommodate up to 10 people at a time.
1879 – French surgeon, Dr. Fontaine built a mobile operating room, which could be pressuirized to provide more oxygen to benefit the patient’s healing during the procedure.
1918 – Orville Cunningham had noticed that people with heart disease became worse if they were living in higher altitudes, but improved when living at sea level. During the influenza season, he put ill physicians in a pressurized and oxygenated chamber and they improved their respiratory problems. This success led him to build an 88 foot, 10-feet diamemeter in Kansas City.
1928 – A patient of Cunningham was so grateful for healing in the chamber, he funded and built a 64 feet in diameter, 6 stories tall sphere in Cleveland, Ohio. This sphere had plush carpets, a dining room, and private patient rooms.
1950’s – The concept of “flooding” the tissues with oxygen was brought up by Ite Boerema of Netherlands. This surgeon worked with the Dutch Navy. After several experiments, a large operating room was built at the University of Amsterdam where a number of complicated heart and lung operations were performed under pressure and increased oxygen.
1960’s – A fairly large number of chambers were installed in hospitals across the country including St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee.
1070’s – The Undersea Medical Society, founded by Navy Diving officers, rebuilt the credibility of the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Several books were written about the uses and because of this, several insurance companies began to cover costs of some of the treatments.

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
Currently today, there are several companies that have made FDA approved portable chambers that treat well over 100 indications. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) utilizes compressed air to increase the amount of oxygen in the blood. The compressed air is absorbed through the skin (and from breathing) and goes directly into the blood. The superficial capillary beds get “supersaturated” with oxygen. This higher O2 level increases the circulation of blood and lymph. The oxygen nourishes cells and cleanses as it circulates.

At The Healing Point, we utilize a mild form of hyperbaric therapy. The chamber is inflated to approximately 4 psi (pounds per inch) which is 1.3 ATM (atmospheric pressure). For those familiar with scuba diving, this is the pressure of 11 feet of water. The chamber is filled with highly filtered ambient air so no tanks are necessary. The air is filtered to 0.01 microns. Treatments are one hour long and are generally relaxing. Most people rest well and then feel energized after a session.

HBOT is Used for Cleansing
HBOT is an excellent modality to improve immune function and to support cleansing. Any comprehensive cleansing program includes some form of oxygen therapy.

HBOT Helps Metabolic Problems
Weight gain, insulin resistance, diabetes and obesity result from inflammation and a crippled metabolism. Oxygen increases cellular respiration, also called aerobic reactions. Cells need oxygen to create clean energy. Without adequate oxygen, the cellular reactions ferment, leading to acidic and toxic residues. These toxins then damage and disrupt the intricate metabolism of cells, leading to weight gain and toxicity.

HBOT Helps Nerve Pain
HBOT offers good results in treating nerve problems, especially those related to scar tissue. There are testimonies that noted improved nerve function for certain types of neuropathy. The nerves themselves are fibrous. Oxygen improves conduction by stimulating the conductive fibers.

HBOT Helps Immune Support
Because oxygen inhibits bacteria, yeasts, and cells infected with a virus, it helps the immune system destroy and process harmful bugs. Lyme disease recovery was dramatically improved from specific breathing techniques that increased the oxygen the body. Increased oxygen is recommended for people with hepatitis, HIV, herpes, shingles, Lyme disease, parasites, candida, etc. Colds and flu can respond to oxygen therapy since the boost in oxygen helps cells scavenge and eliminate the bacterial or viral cells that are causing the symptoms.

HBOT Helps with Wound Healing and Broken Bones
Of course everyone heals at different rate, but the healing with EVERYONE is faster with pressurized chambers and increased oxygen! Detox starts at 5 treatments while other indications typically are 20-30 treatments or more. Return to work or the playing field much quicker, reduce your doctor visits and spend your deductible on Natural Healing Oxygen that will benefit your entire body inside and out!
